We recently put up a Swift box but to do so Dad had to fit a short plank of wood above it to the rafters. When he put this up he noticed it created a nice nook above the box where some birds might like to nest.
Just a little while later and we have seen House Sparrows nesting there 😀 I don’t know how Sparrows and Swifts would feel about being neighbours but I guess we might see. I haven’t seen or heard Swifts here yet though.
These photos are rubbish due to the lighting but I’m sharing just to illustrate…
I have lots more photos that I have taken recently and as soon as I have time to edit them I will share.
Here is an interesting one from today I quickly prepared, a House Sparrow standing up for it’s right to bathe. It’s out of focus and this part of the garden is a bit messy :S the bird bath will be in the meadow when it’s finished and it will all look lovely, you shall see!
Here is a nicer one – the hopefully, soon to be, daddy Sparrow…
One another note, we planted Raspberries today! I have photos of that too.. they’ll be up sometime soonish.
Oh and we saved a bee back in March and I haven’t shared! Photos are now up at Flickr and here is one of them.
The poor thing was on the ground looking very sorry for it’s self. After a bit of sun bathing and a spot of honey it was recharged and flew off 🙂
