Well, the weather has turned again so there has been less progress in our garden. I have helped Dad in his garage with putting up shelving and painting on wood preservative though. Plus it’s given us time to plan our next steps, such as getting netting to protect the meadow when we sow. We are avoiding any bird scaring tactics of course.
The number of birds in the garden has increased:
The Goldfinches are still about and within 24hrs of putting out a new nyjer seed feeder, I had seen them use it twice. They have continued to come back and a Greenfinch as been seen a couple of times on our bird bath.
I kept seeing a Dunnock but I wasn’t sure what it was at first. This bird is a regular visitor now, with presumably, it’s mate.
When I added a new ground feeder, having not see Starlings for ages, we had a whole host of them! [At least 9]
They have been back a few times since but not in such great numbers. I had put mealworms, seed mix, peanuts and fruit on the feeder. The Starlings, Blackbirds, Sparrows, Dunnocks and Wood Pigeons love it.
I have loads more photos to sort through. When I get chance I’ll post the best here. These were just a few random ones to illustrate.
Oh and our Swift box is now up 😀
