I’m still really excited to have a wildlife pond now. I have been working on it and have more photos for you.
As you can see I’ve added rocks and pebbles around the edge and put some more in the pond too.
I’ve also lessened the steepness of the tile ramp escape route.
The plants I’ve added so far are; Water forget-me-not, marsh marigold, purple loostrife, and dwarf spearwort. I have hornwort and frogbit on order.
I’m not sure I’m happy with the rocks.. but I don’t know why. I’m hoping to get more big pebble to cover a bit more of the black edge; it gets a bit hot in the sun.
The birds didn’t take long to start taking advantage on the pond for drinks and baths, once I provided some rock ledges for them. So far I’ve seen sparrows, blackbirds, pigeons, and starlings using it.
I’ve sown a few seeds around the edge, of plants that shouldn’t mind getting a little damp, just in case.
Bird nesting wise, we have blue tits in the sparrow terrace again, sparrows in swift box again, the robins just over in next door, and we had blackbirds in a bush, they have fledged already 🙂
