In contrast to the photo above, our weather had actually been rather warm recently so I’ve been out in the garden getting some things done at last! But I have no photos of that, and I do have unused photos of my strawberry tree and my camellia!
This tree and some heather, and perhaps a couple of other things, were all that were providing any colour for a while. And it sure looks pretty all frosty!
I’ve been doing some last minute pruning and a bit of a tidy up, though not too tidy! Getting ready for nesting season to begin. We still have a little bit to do, and will hopefully have it done before the predicted storm hits on Thursday.
I’ve added a few wildlife patches to the garden; I’ve made a partially buried log and rock pile, a damp ditch, a twig and stick pile as a potential ground nesting site, put out the bird baths I take in when it’s freezing (the hardier ones stay out), put out moss for nesting (wool is already out), and put out my new bee nest pot.
My camellia is blooming well this year 🙂 and there are more and more shoots and buds coming out all over the garden. Can’t wait for spring to really be here! I have seen bees about and birds are definitely prospecting.
Is your garden springing to life yet?
( No siskins or redpolls yet this year for those following along 😦 )
