As the season continues to progress I’m trying to get things done in the garden before it’s too late. The other day I was outside and it started raining a lot, but the sun was out, so we looked up and this rainbow is what we saw. It was actually a double, but the second one is always fainter and it didn’t show up well in my photos. You can just about see a hint of it at the top of this photo.
With the meadow finally cut and cleared, and with a bit of rain to soften it, we scarified it and resowed it at last! We scarified the lawn too, so it all looks rather a mess right now. But hopefully it’ll be all the better in the long run.
Look how big the strawberry tree is now! (bottom right corner) Look how tiny it was two years ago…
And today I noticed it’s first flower of the year! It’s autumn/winter flowering for the bees 😉
I’ve also been trying to get mulch down. I’ve bought some straw bales to use this year. I’ve done a few areas but I’m waiting until we’ve pruned to do the rest so I have some chippings to weigh it down with.
Winter seems to be coming too fast this year, I want to enjoy autumn for longer. There won’t be much going on in the garden in winter, unless we get snow – then I should have some snow creations to share!!
