Time for a little update on my birds!
Nothing really exciting just now, the flurry of fledglings has died down, but I think we’ve had quite a few this year 😀
This photo is of our sparrow terrace that we made. Typically the species for which it was made didn’t use it, blue tits did! Once they’d stopped using it we took it down for cleaning, and also as it was on our garage it was in the way of us maintaining our fascia board. It’ll go back up soon.
As you can see three nests were built! The top one has two unhatched eggs in it 😦 The second sadly has two dead chicks 😥 and the third.. is empty! Either it wasn’t used, or every chick left OK.
The birds were definitely done before we took it down; there were spider webs over the entrances.
I caught our robin feeding a baby!
I think this is the same robin fledgeling. I find it hard to tell with the babies.
And here is some sparrow feeding action I caught. They had two or three families in there I think!
It’s so nice to see young birds in the garden! I believe I’ve seen eight species of fledgling in the garden this year: Several Sparrows, bunch of Starlings, possibly a Siskin, a Robin, few Blue tits, a coal tit, a jackdaw, and a few blackbird babies.
We’ve had lots of butterflies too this year; I have some photos to come.
Anything new in your patch?
