For years I’ve been planning getting some kind of water feature, and I’ve finally got one!
But before I settled on this feature, I imagined and researched lot of different types of water feature.
I originally wanted something for wildlife, ideally a pond with some running water, maybe one of those waterfall arrangements! But as it’s not just my space, that was not to be.
So we played with the idea of a pebble pool fountain, and I looked at lots of these trying to find one that I really liked and that would fit the garden. Many are made of resin, and I was against getting this… I’ve had a bird feeder made of resin and pretty soon the paint came off and it looked horrid. Sure I probably wouldn’t need to clean a fountain as much, but I wanted something that would last.
We even thought about making our own; we have some sandstone in the garden and might have been able to rig up a tiny waterfall into a pebble pool..
I found some really pretty copper sculpture designs, some lovely stone monoliths and more, but if they weren’t expensive, then they were trickier to install. Basically I made the whole thing hard for myself and I wasn’t getting anywhere!
In the end I happened to see our water feature in a shop on clearance. I thought, what the hell, I’ve been procrastinating for years! It is resin, but the price was so good I think it’s worth it for a few years, and if the paint comes off, we haven’t spent much on it anyway!
I’m hoping that if the birds are comfortable enough they may drink from it, but if not I’m sure we’ll enjoy it!
It’s only temporarily rigged up at the moment, to test it. We need to do a permanent job with the wiring and positioning. And one day I will get my dream water feature!

I don’t know if there’s a take away to this story… procrastination is frustrating? Sometimes buying on impulse is OK (I hardly ever do this)…? Sometimes you can’t have everything all at once..?
