Spring is here and it’s been warmer, or at least, sunnier outside, so I’ve started work on what I can in the garden.
We’ve just mown for the second time and the lawn is looking much neater, so it’s a good time to show you what the garden looks like now.
We’ve just sown grass seed on that bare patch in the bottom left. That’s where we had to dig a hole last year for a downpipe. Some more colour is appearing as things grow leaves, and come into bloom, but I can’t wait until the border is full, and the meadow is tall again.
Our new photina (red robin) is growing 🙂 I think it was caught out in some recent frosts though.
This is a new planting area. The shrub has been moved from the front garden, I’ve planted a hebe I purchased last year, and I’ve made a new flower bed.
It’s just a small patch, and I’ll be quite shaded with some afternoon sun. I’ve sown it already, and I’m looking forward to seeing she shrubs grow in, and what grows from seed. This area is in front of the workshop where we hope we’ll have a bench eventually, so we can enjoy our fire bowl and the pretty flowers.
I also hope the shrubs will help fill in some space, and enable the birds feel more comfortable at the top of the garden.
Soon I want to dig the compost out, and mulch everything in. And the oval flower bed has been taken over by a lot of grass, probably because it was lawn not too long ago, so I’m going to have to carefully pull all that out somehow avoiding any little plants trying to come up.
Have you started on your garden yet?
