I stayed up late and attempted to get some photos of the Blood Moon!
My family all had to go to bed at a reasonable hour for reasons, but I had the opportunity to stay up all night and see the spectacle 😀
I took my equipment downstairs by the back door ready, and settled down to watch some DVD’s until one AM. Then began my early morning of creeping about in the dark.
I went out just after one and I could just about see part of The Moon covered in shadow, but it wasn’t much to look at yet. I went back to my DVD’s and crept out again a bit later, this is when it started to look like an eclipse.
Partial lunar eclipse:
I stayed out for a little while and then came back in waiting for more of The Moon to be covered in Earth’s shadow. I went back out for the last time around three AM, and I stayed out for an hour or more this time.
I enjoyed watching the eclipse as it progressed, snapping away every now and then. I haven’t got the hang of photographing The Moon yet, so my photos aren’t great. But you can see what’s happening well enough.
It got to sometime after four AM, and The Moon was making it’s way out of Earth’s shadow. My fingers and toes were cold, condensation was forming on my camera, and a bit of cloud had appeared. I decided to call it a night, and went inside to warm up.
It was nice watching this rare event, lovely to look out at the stars too – I don’t do that enough. I’m so glad it was a clear night!

Did you watch the eclipse?
