Here are a few photos from last autumn.
This is my friend, Mr B 🙂 He’s currently the most present and brave blackbird in the garden and always appears almost as soon as I go outside. He quickly learnt that I mean food! He’s got less and less concerned about my presence and now comes really close to me, especially when it’s cold and it’s tougher for him – that’s when he’s impatient!
Isn’t he dashing?
The magpies visit more in autumn and winter. This one has learnt to hang on to the feeder long enough to peck out some food, it then drops to the ground to gobble it up.
I love watching the birds, sometimes you get to observe something you haven’t seen before. I failed to have a camera on me one day when our Robin was hunting in the meadow area of our garden. It found a worm and took it to the decking we have in front of our arbour seat. It popped it down and flew off to one of the feeding stumps for a snack before coming back for the worm. The robin had put the worm somewhere it knew it couldn’t bury itself for safe keeping while it had an easy bite to eat!
Unfortunately for the Robin, the worm had just managed to wriggle off the edge of the deck back into the meadow, just before it came back for it. What a lucky escape!
Anyone else seen anything like that?
