I find I lose a chunk of my evenings now. We have baby Blue Tits and baby Great Tits dining on our feeders.
I think the Blue Tit family are the same ones that nested in our box in our Silver Birch tree, that’s the area they tend to gravitate to anyway. The Great Tits I think nested in a garden nearby.
I have lots of photos and some video to edit and post, but here’s one for now:
I also need to update about the garden! The meadow area is gradually filling in with green 😀 And I’m trying to grow some flowers indoors, from seeds, for the first time. I have seedlings coming up so I must be doing OK so far.
I also found a tiny Oak growing behind some of our bushes. I have potted it and hope to grow it. Not sure what I’ll do with it then though, we don’t have the room for an Oak, as lovely as that would be.
On a sadder note, we have found another dead chick on the lawn. It seems to have been a bit older than the last one. It looks like a Starling to me, but I’m far from an expert!
Oh and we have managed to attract some bees! Our new Foxgloves and Raspberries can often be seen to have visitors. We’ve put up a bee hotel, hoping to get some residents soon.
I’m note sure how many people read these blogs but if you’re creating homes for wildlife or planting for bees etc I’d love to hear about it, maybe share ideas or tips. And if you’re not, I hope that my exploits inspire you to give it a go!
