The Goldfinches are back! They’re feeding on my nyjer seed again and for some reason they seem to keep attacking our forget-me-nots!
They seem to pull bits out and take some away with them. Because of this I thought perhaps it was used for nesting material, however I have googled and apparently they would have been eating seeds from it. I have bits of the plant scattered around the main body of the plant, why would they need to pull it apart so much?
The Blackbirds nesting in our bush at the front of our house seem to be doing well. The eggs have hatched and we have at least 4 baby birds.
The not so good news is that I found a dead bird on our lawn. We think it was dumped by a parent bird clearing out their nest. I’m not sure what kind of bird it is, Blackbird or Starling maybe. I took a few pictures to see if anyone knows. You can choose to see them or not with the following links.
No idea why it died, I couldn’t see any obvious reason so I don’t think it was a result of an attack. Perhaps it was simply the runt of the litter.
