Well.. the two lady lions they needed are here! 😀 See for yourself hopefully they will breed with Themba [The WHF’s beautiful male While Lion] and increase their species numbers so eventually they can thrive in the wild.
And even better!! There are two open days at the WHF this year, which means you can go see them! More details here. I am booked to go and I cannot wait!
Planet Earth Live
Personally, I am giving the show a chance. I mean, it’s a huge undertaking. If we did watch an hour of live footage from say, Minnesota, it might be that all we get is sleeping bears the whole time. And during the air time, in the Masai Mara it is pitch black. It may not be live, but it is real-time, the stories are happening now. Any pre-recorded stuff is recent, not filmed months ago. So I’m going to see how it goes.
They have racked up a couple rare pieces of footage; they spotted an Aardwolf and filmed Humpback whales intervening when Orca’s attacked a Grey whale calf.
As for the presenters; I like Richard Hammond! I know he loves animals and I think that comes across. I don’t find him annoying. Julia I’m not sure about at the moment. I have nothing against her, and I like her fine when I catch some CountryFile, but on Planet Earth Live something doesn’t right and I can’t put my finger on it. I guess I just don’t find her very sincere. Probably just be me though.
I am in love with the baby Meerkat they are following and could hardly watch when she almost got run over. It was hard to see the baby Grey whale get attacked by Orca’s but that’s the circle of life, and it rules us all [Lion King taught me that ;)].
Now, what have I been up to? Going for walks and taking photos of course!
They’re all slowly making it onto my Flickr photo stream and my other sites.
I think I’m working in the wrong sector and that I should be in conservation or at least with animals.
