Yesterday was fantastic! 😀
I went to London by train with my friend Mimi. We found the Punch and Judy Pub in Covent Garden and met up with some friends I made last time. It was so nice to see them again 🙂
We popped over to the Church when it was time and settled into our pews. In the queue I saw lots of familiar faces and a couple more friends from last time.
The event started with a welcome message from Lisa, and Steve wonderfully showing off some merch 😀 Then it was straight into photos! James was looking good.
My shot went wrong so I had pose with James again, such a tough thing to be asked to do!! Mimi and I brought an extra photo together and we both posed with James for that 🙂
Next James read Charles Dicken’s Christmas Carol. It was amazing. I think he could make any story more interesting. He did a different voice for each character and I loved his Scrooge voice.
We had a little break and then it was time for the Q and A. James talked about his new GotR CD and upcoming projects;
>Metal Hurlant with Michelle Ryan including the plot line, director and dubbing
>The Dragon Warriors movie
>More Dresden Files audio books
>Reading the Vampire Empire books
And other things including:
>Collecting an award for Moonshot and meeting a real astronaught
>What his perfect xmas present would be; he doesn’t really need anything. But he could do with a new car and his xbox died when he plugged in at his hotel.
>Can you buy a mansion on audio book money? No!
>What he thinks of stage pieces taken from movies and difference between stage and movies
>Working on MacBeth. James believes Shakespeare should not be read but listened to
>The occupy movement
>GotR is Scotland
>What does he think of Torchwood’s move to the US – James hasn’t seen it.
>His thoughts on A Winter’s Tale/Other Shakespeare works near the end of Shakespeare’s career “The Mystery Plays”.
>There was one question I couldn’t hear properly – something about Joss being an auteur I think. James went on to talk about Joss and his work – how Serenity isn’t a good name for a movie for example, and that it’s too early in Joss’ career to tell. Joss is a genuis but Serenity and Dollhouse were very cynical.
>Does James want to act on stage in England. Yes he does! But he has kids and has to justify leaving them to work. He has to bring home lots of money, he can’t come just for a great role. He is just married so in his words “there’s probably more babies on the way!”.
>Why James isn’t in gag reels much – he’s boring, he puts all his concentration into the time between “action” and “cut”. However working with John Barrowman is different!!!
Then there was a raffle – the prizes included Dresden Files audio books and a signed stake.
James then read the poem Mrs Scrooge and the first two chapters of Ghost Story by Jim Butcher.
Autographs were next. Mimi and I gave James a Christmas card with the reciept for our donation to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS foudation inside. £50 or $78 something. Also a stocking with some small random gifts inside from a store call Hawkin’s Bizarre. Mimi also gave him a copy of one of the books she has written.
11 fans and Steve took to the stage for the 12 days of Christmas with actions! Steve was the partridge in a pear tree and James poured snow on him everytime it got to his part in the song. UNTIL the last verse when Steve got his own back!! Bwhahaha!
Then it was the dinner break followed by a wonderful concert. James sounded really good, probably the best I’ve heard him even if he did forget some of the words.
James seemed really happy the whole day and the atmosphere was really pleasant and festive 😀
It all ended too soon but I had the best day! 😀 Thanks to JM Live.
